Ocean circulation and temperature in the Indochinese Peninsula (IP) are dominated by the monsoon. The monsoon currents are seasonally reversing open-ocean currents flowing between the west Pacific Ocean into the South China Sea and the north Indian Ocean into the Bay of Bengal. The ocean mixing of overflows from marginal seas is a key process shaping the structure of ocean upwelling and circulation. This study explored the dynamic elements of the Sea Surface Temperature (SST) and coastal upwelling in the IP using the AVHRR-SST and the Regional Oceanic Modeling System (ROMS).
