Determining the maximum eigenvalue of a symmetric tensor is of great importance in applied mathematics and engineering,and is an intrinsically hard problem.This problem arises in various important engineering applications such as stability problem of nonlinear autonomous systems in automatic control,and provides a rich and fruitful interaction between multilinear algebra and modern variational analysis.
