This paper reports an exploratory study on the development and measurement of the air permeability,pore size distribution and filtration efficiency of needle punched polyester nonwoven fabrics for diesel filter applications.The filter was developed by mixing different denier polyester fibers and changing stitch density.Polyester fibers having circular cross section with 1.4 denier and 3 denier,trilobal polyester fiber having 1.5 and 2 denier are used for non-woven fabric development.Also nonwovens are developed by mixing circular and trilobal polyester fibers to study the influence of the fiber cross section on pore size.
