Southern California covers 36%of the land mass and 61%(22 million)of the entire population of the State of California.It is the second largest urbanized area in the United States.Not only does the climate vary from the Mediterranean climate along the coast to the arid in the eastern interior deserts,but it is also the home for people of different ethnicities and cultural backgrounds.It has several major passenger and general aviation airports,as well as the largest commercial sea ports.
