Beta-blockers have an important therapeutic role throughout the cardiovascular continuum extending from the management of hypertension through to treatment of heart failure and prevention of sudden cardiac death.There is a considerable variation between individuals in the response to different Beta-blockers, some of which has a genetic basis.Part of this is related to genetic variation in the drug metabolizing enzymes or drug transporters.
