The phylogenic and genetic relationships in Cornus were studied at molecular levels,for providing new molecular evidences of classification and genetic information for the future breeding program of Cornus.The sequence-related amplified polymorphism(SRAP)was assessed to analyze the genetic relationships among seven species of Cornus(Cornus sericea,Cornus racemosa,Cornus kousa,Cornus mas,Cornus alternifolia,Cornus macrophylla and Cornus wilsoniana).A total of 170 DNA bands were amplified by 10 selective primers,167 of which(98.3%)were polymorphic.The average number of polymorphic DNA bands amplified by each primer was 17.6.The genetic similarities of seven sample materials were between 0.4706 and 0.6882.UPGMA method cluster analysis showed that seven sample materials were classified into two clusters with the genetic similarity of 0.52.The highest genetic similarity was between C.alternifolia and C.racemosa(0.6882),whereas the lowest coefficient between C.mas with C.sericea(0.4706).The results showed that SRAP technique is efficient in studying genetic relationships among Cornus.
