Lily is one of the most important ornamental plants worldwide which is well adapted to cool and humid environments, but growth was strictly limited under high temperature.Improvement of thermotolerance by the way of molecular breeding in lily is therefore a key approach to solve this problem.Previous studies showed class A heat shock transcription factors (HsfAs) are the master regulators of the heat stress response (HSR) in plants. So we identified the Arabidopsis homologue genes of HsfA1 and HsfA2 from lily, and characterized the protein functions by analyses of expression level, detected the transactivation activity and thermotolerance of transgenic Arabidopsis.
