Graphene quantum dots (GQDs) are photoluminescent due to their quantum confinement and edge effects, which provide promises in numerous exciting applications including bio-imaging.Surface chemical functionalization has been successful for manipulating the photoluminescent (PL) property of GQDs.Optically tunable GQDs by surface functionalization with amino groups have been recently reorted. The GQDs exhibit a maximum PL emission at 530 nm, which provides a potential to obtain powerful GQDs with near-IR photoluminescence.
