Bipolar disorder is a common psychiatric mood disorder affecting approximately 3.5% of the general population.There is no objective laboratory-based test available to aid BD diagnosis or monitor BD progression,and little is known about BDs underlying molecular basis.The identification of underlying molecular alterations should lead to an improved understanding of BDs pathogenesis,so a comparative proteomic study was performed to identify differentially expressed plasma proteins across various BD mood states (depressed BD,manic BD) relative to healthy controls.
