Firstly, manganese oxide particles were electrodeposited onto a graphite electrode by cyclic voltammetry (CV) from an aqueous solution of 0.1M Na2SO4 containing 5mM MnSO4,and then the obtained samples, prepared by CV at different potential scan rates, were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).And for the first time, platinum particles were immobilized onto the as-prepared manganese oxide particles by galvanostat method, generating a platinum particles-decorated manganese oxide (denoted as Pt/MnO2)-modified graphite electrode. And then this developed electrode was employed to the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR).The results we obtained from cyclic voltammograms (CVs) strongly demonstrated that it is possible to replace platinum electrode used in fuel cell with this novel electrode.
