Application of true density analyzer in the study of chemical shrinkage of cement based material

　　This paper investigated the influence of mineral admixtures, such as silica fume, fly ash and slag, on chemical shrinkage of cement based material by using the Ultrapyc 1200e true density analyzer.Results show that the volume change of all the mineral admixtures utilized in this paper obeys almost the same law at the early age,but the influences on chemical shrinkage are different.Silica fume and fly ash could decrease the chemical shrinkage of cementitious material paste while slag would increase that.Compared comprehensively, the volume change at the early age is a process with both chemical shrinkage, which is caused by hydration, and expansion, which is caused by crystallization of the products.It shows chemical shrinkage when hydration is dominated and shows expansion when crystallization is dominated.
