Aluminum powder with wide size distribution is not proper for the new aluminum product preparation [1-2].Therefore,it is necessary to classify the powder into narrow size product [3].In this paper,based on stokes law u=(P1-p2)gD2/18η and the dispersion behavior of aluminum powder in water[4],the sedimentation classification method is successfully applied to separate aluminum powder different particle size with the demand of production from.The effects of dispersants,such as sodium hexarnetahposphate、 Tween80、 CH-12W、 CH-12B and anhydrous alcohol,and sedimentation time on the dispersion and classification are mainly investigated by measuring the turbidity.The results show that Tween80 has a good effect on the dispersion and its optimal dosage is 1.5% (volume fraction).With this dispersion condition,the aluminum powder with D50=14.727μm can be classified into the coarse portion with D50=22.87μm and the fine portion with D50=10.764μm by sedimentation classification for 30rmin.And the Newtons efficiency was up to 89.98%.
