Root architecture composed of primary root and lateral root is tightly controlled by phytohormones,mainly auxin.Auxin can both promote and inhibit root cell expansion depending on its concentration.Especially the rapid auxin-dependent cell expansion is generally caused by water uptake-induced cell swelling and H+pumping-stimulated cell wall loosening.
