Over the past decades,N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) have developed into a powerful kind catalysts for organic syntheses.Thus numerous efforts have been to the generation and reactivity of NHC-bounded intermediates including enolates,homoenolates and vinyl enolates.Herein,we would like to present our recent work on the generation of these key intermediates from easily accessible precursors such as α-bromoenal,α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acids and their derivatives.Subsequently,the formal[3+2],[3+3]or[4+2]cycloaddition of these intermediates with reactive species could provide new alternatives to five-membered or six-membered heterocycles.
