Liquid crystal device with fast response time is important for various application.[1] To match such a fast response time,the liquid crystal materials require high birefringence and large dielectric anisotropy.Dual frequency liquid crystal (DFLCs) offer an unique advantage in that they are able to accelerate both rise and decay process.[2] A DFLC mixture usually consist of liquid crystal compounds of both positive and negative dielectric anisotropy.The compounds of positive dielectric anisotropy are easy to be obtained by introducing the polar substituent as terminals,such as,cyano or thiocyano,which increase the birefringence and dielectric anisotropy in combination.
