Purpose To study clinicopathologic features, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of pituitary carcinoma.Methods A case of null-cell pituitary carcinoma was studied by light microscopy and immunohistochemical staining, and discussed with literatures.Results A 48 year-old man presented with visual disturbances.Hormone measurements revealed no pituitary abnormal secretion.Computed tomography (CT) elevated of the brain revealed a round intrasellar mass with no other abnormality.Total removal of the tumor was performed.Microscopic examination showed slight cellular pleomorphism, scarce mitotic figures and without necrosis.Immunohistochemical examination showed that Syn and CgA were positive, while hypophyseal hormones were negative.Ki-67 proliferation index was less than 5%.
