Predictions in Ungauged Basins (PUB) is a global movement operating from 2003 to 2012 under the auspices of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences, with the principal aim of reducing uncertainty in hydrological prediction.Now in its 4th biennium, the movement is shifting its emphasis towards the exploration of routes through which advances made in theoretical understanding and knowledge of hydrology will contribute to the solution of real-world challenges in water resources prediction.The 4th Bienniums principal aims are to enhance communication between scientific and applications communities, maximize the predictive value of available water data, incorporate hydrological process knowledge into predictive approaches, improve realism in conceptual predictive approaches, demonstrate new measurement and information technologies and develop improved models that reflect improved hydrological understanding.This talk will discuss the advances and prospects for PUB along with some Canadian examples of PUB research and practice.
