Uric acid represents the major catabolite of purine breakdown in humans. The normal level of uric acid in human blood is 0.15–0.45 mM.An increase in the concentration of uric acid causes many medical complications. Therefore, the determination of uric acid in human blood is very important in the diagnosis.Because of their good conductivity, useful electrocatalytic and biocompatibility, specially the nice performance toward the detection of hydrogen peroxide,a typical enzymatic product, platinum nanowires have been widely utilized to fabricate electrochemical sensors and biosensors. In this paper, platinum nanowires array were synthesized in polycarbonate (PC) membranes by means of direct electrodeposition technique. The diameter of each nanowire is about 250nm with a length about 3 μm.The uricase biosensor was prepared by immobilizing uricase onto the glassy carbon electrode modified by platinum nanowires array,The biosensor exhibits direct electrochemical response to the oxidation of uric acid with a linear response range of 9.83×10-7 to 1.81×10-2 M with a detection limit of 4.94×10-7 M.
