Long persistent phosphors have attracted considerable attention for displays and signing applications as friendly environmental and energy economized materials.In this report, I will present the recent progress of our laboratories on the long persistent phosphors.Our group has identified some of new hosts doped with rare earth which can produce warm-light long persistent phosphorescence, such as Sr3Al2O5Cl2∶ Eu2+, Tm3+ (orange-yellow) and Sr2SnO4∶Sm3+ (red).We have also discovered that Ba4(Si3O8)2 can be used as a good host for the long-lasting phosphorescence, and the duration of Ba4(Si3O8)2∶Eu2+, Dy3+ is more than 20 h.During our experiment, it is interesting to found the photoionization of Eu2+ to Eu3+ in BaMgSiO4, which provide a good support for the nowadays afterglow mechanism.
