The practice of medicine,including health promotion and disease prevention,is on the verge of being revolutionized -from the current evidence-based medicine to genomic medicine.Evidence-based medicine entails the systematic approach of formulating a question,developing literature search strategies,and evaluating and applying evidence to establish clinical practice guidelines currently used as standards for the practice of Western medicine.A comprehensive evidence-based review on diet and cancer prevention has been conducted by the World Health Organization International Agency for Cancer Research,the US National Cancer Institute,the American Institute of Cancer Research,and the US 2005 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee,which formed the evidence-based recommendations of the US 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans Portion on Diet and Cancer Prevention.
