In this study we combine 1H MRS and pattern recognition (PR) methods-partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) and orthogonal signal correction (OSC)-in order to investigate the response of normal-appearing cerebellar tissue on posterior fossa tumors treatment and to provide information on metabolic alterations eharacteristic for a particular treatment method and a particular tumor state: total resection, stagnation, progression and recurrence.The studied group consisted of 27 patients (irradiated with a total dose 54 or 55.5 Gy), divided into four groups: tumor free (16 cases), stagnation (5 cases), recurrence (4 cases) and progression (2 cases).69 spectra were obtained using a 2T MRI/MRS system.
