Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) is a major vegetable worldwide and a model system for plant vascular biology and sex determination studies.In the past few years, we generated unprecedented genomic resources for this crop species, including a high-quality draft genome sequence, a comprehensive transcriptome profiles that include RNA-seqs from more than 100 tissues and treatments, a variation map that encompasses ～4M SNP and other variants.These resources are integrated into a versatile platform that facilitates exciting discoveries into botanical and agronomical traits of cucumber, including fruit development, sex determination, and its characteristic taste, bitterness.A roadmap from genome to biology will be discussed.
