Fuses are important to protect circuits from heat when overcurrent is caused in the circuit. The fuse generates an arc discharge immediately after fusion. The AC arc discharge usually stops when the source voltage becomes zero. For conventional fuses, the high voltage DC arc discharge continues for a long time and might cause an electrical accident. We propose a transient current switched circuit to suppress arc ignition for fuses as well as electrical contact devices. The AC glass-tube fuse type (Specification: 10A.6.5mmψ×30mm) was confirmed to show an arcless current interruption for DC300V/30A and DC50V/100A.
