Immunoassay techniques have been available for decades and utilized to address a wide variety of scientifically-and clinically-related issues.Technical advancements, such as enzyme-based detections systems and the introduction of the microplate format, have simplified assay procedures.However, parameters such as reducing sample consumption, shortening turn-around-time (TAT) and increasing productivity have become increasingly important issues when employing immunoassays in time-critical workflows such as biopharmaceutical development.Miniaturization of immunoassays offers a proven approach to solve these issues.
