Tungsten bronze nanoparticles have been fabricated by a designed water controlled-releasing process in which well-known esterification reaction between ethanol and acetic acid was creatively employed to generate water gradually during the solvothermal process, and thereafter the slowly released water completed the hydrolysis of W resource gradually, producing the homogenous particles. The resulting nanocrystals exhibit strong light absorption in a wide range of 800~2500 nm,covering the whole waveband of near infrared (NIR) region.
