MnO2/CNTs composite with manganese dioxides (δ-MnO2) immobilized on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) was prepared successfully by a direct redox reaction between potassium permanganate and carbon nanotubes. The morphology and microstructure of this MnO2/CNT nanocomposite were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD).The electrochemical properties were characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge/discharge (GCD).It was found that birnessite-type MnO2 were coated homogeneously on the surfaces of CNTs, and the layer of MnO2 could dramatically enhance the specific capacitance of CNTs.
