　　SiAlONs have been expected as hosts for photoluminescent materials.For example,Eu-doped Ca alpha-SiAlON and Eu-doped beta-SiAlON are yellow and green phosphors,respectively.These photoluminescent materials are used for white LEDs.In this application,the phosphor powder is dispersed in a resin.The resin sometimes results in the decrease in luminescent efficiency because of the difference in reflective index and its degradation due to UV and/or blue lights.
