Owing to the increasing environmental pollution and the limited fossil fuel H2-as a renewable, sustainable energy carrier has received much attention. An effective way to produce H2 is the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER),while the worldwide application is limited by the rare and expensive noble metal electrocatalysts. Thus,we should make our attempts to find a suitable replacement. It has been reported that layered transitional metal chalcogenides,a group of anisotropic materials with strong bonding within the layers and weak interlayer interactions, are an exciting family as the catalysts for HER.Among those catalysts,MoS2 nanoscale materials and amorphous MoS2 have been extensively investigated.Due to its structural and electronic similarities,WS2 can also be a promising electrocatalysts. Thus,we developed an efficient WS2 catalystfor hydrogen evolution reaction based on liquid exfoliation of bulk WS2 via a direct dispersion and ultrasonication method.Scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy show that the exfoliated WS2 consists of two-dimensional nanosheets.By a simple drop casting method, the exfoliated WS2 nanosheets modified glassy carbon electrode has been assembled, making the electrochemical measurement easily to conduct, through which show an excellent activity and stability of the WS2 NSs,with a low overpotential of 80mV and high current density(10 mA cm-2,at η=205mV).
