Cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms(HABs) pose an increasingly serious waterpollution problem worldwide.It is of general interest to find an efficient way to reduce itsimpacts on human health,living resources,and water economies when they do occur.However,none of Chemical compounds are specifically designed or developed for exclusivetargeting of cyanobacteria,thus the utility of chemical control has significant limits.In thechemical biology approach,however,specific targeting of the critical enzymes ofcyanobacteria may provide useful solutions to the development of potent and selectivealgicides.
