The isolator system, including the transfer chain and disinfection chain, is designed and established according to national accreditation requirements and the related technology standards and experimental processes for performing animal research. It enables general detection and identification of high-risk pathogens in high-level biosafety laboratories to support our mission to improve the public health through biomedical research. The technology performance parameters of isolator system are empirically analyzed. The double port transfer exchange (DPTE) system is commonly used to transfer experimental materials, including bedding changes, food preparation, routine cage cleaning, animal testing, and waste disposal, and to keep laboratory animals in containment micro-environment.The open-front negative pressure cabinet is used as a transfer station to monitor the material flow safety among the isolators and other related security equipments.Peracetic acid, hydrogen peroxide and their derivatives are applied in different sterilizers to decontaminate the different types of isolators and maintain the performance of the internal isolator.A successful technology system is established to provide morphological screening, fluorescence microscopy immunoassay, laboratory animal breeding and immunization, and challenge and toxicity assays of the pathogen. The technology system meets the requirements of rapid detection and identification of pathogens based on the lethal infection, pathogenicity, and biological characteristics of the isolated pathogen. The multi-functional isolation chamber system offers the best possible safety and security to prevent pathogen contamination and enables efficient detection in a high-level biosafety laboratory. It is a safety protection hardware support system for working with infectious medium-sized laboratory animals.
