The catalytic activity or antipoison properties of platinum base catalysts were greatly enhanced by promoters for fuel cell catalysts have been known. However, their mechanics in the reaction duration are far from clear understanding due to the measurement technology limitation.Temperature programmed reduction by H2 (H2-TPR) measurement is a sensitive tool to study the affection of promoters on the metal components.Up to now, study on the influence of promotion action on the supported platinum based fuel cell catalysts are rare reported. In this work,by H2-TPR measurements, some very interesting results, showing the effect of the promoters such as Ru,Pd,Ir,Mo,and Si on the reduction of carbon supported platinum precursors, have been achieved, which reveals the interactions existed between main component platinum and the promoters.
