The influence of microchannel intersection shape on droplets coalescence process is investigated in this study.Three kinds of oil, liquid paraffin, 10cp silicone oil and 20cp silicone oil, are used as the continuous phase, while deionized water is worked as the dispersed phase.Three kinds of expansion shape (half-round, triangle and camber) are designed to realize head-on droplets coalescence, and the differences of the coalescence characteristics are compared.The coalescence processes are visualized with high-speed camera system, and the internal flow patterns are resolved with micro-PIV system.
