Understanding the leaching properties of heavy metals from naturally contaminated soils is of fundamental importance for understanding the mechanism of naturally occurring groundwater pollution,long-term management of abandoned metal mines,proper utilization or management of excavated soils and/or rocks discharged from large scale infrastructure construction projects,and development of appropriate technologies for pollution control.
