Breast cancer has been rising worldwide, with up to 1 million new cases per year.Invasive breast cancer, a frequently diagnosed sub-type, poses a clinical problem for definitive treatment to prevent recurrence.A recent American Cancer Society study showed that invasive breast cancer represents a large fraction of all breast cancers and carries a high risk for recurrence.Better and definitive treatment of invasive breast cancer is necessary to improve patient outcome. Thus, understanding the molecular mechanisms that are de-regulated in invasive breast cancer may provide important insights into definitive treatments.
