AIM:The purpose of the current study was to investigate a practical technique using for inhibiting corneal angiogenesis by a 90Sr-90Y ophthalmic applicator.Methods:90Sr-90Y ophthalmic applicator was detected by radioactive nuclide application treatment healthy protecting standard.The applicator undertook manufacture research,dosimetric medicine research,applicator concavity origin appearance contaminated level,applicator temperature and humidity serviceable range,applicator appearance status,applicator radiation homogeneity,radioautography,the radiogical safety calculation of applicator origin surface.New born vessel rat model was established by sutures around the corneal linbus.The corneal inflammation,dropsy,opacitas,neovascularization were observed by slit lamp.The new vessel lenghth and response area were measured.The datas were statistical analyzed.RESULTS: Low dose radiation can inhibit corneal neovascularization after cornea sutured.The absorbed dose rate of the applicator:0.046Gy/s,it was safe for the treatment of corneal neovascularization.CONCLUSIONS:This technique can be a new pragmatic and safe method.The optimal dose radiation emitting from the applicator can be used potentially in humans.
