Novel dye-sensitized solar cells(DSSCs)based on the composite of multiwalled carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs)anchoring with two different semiconductor, namely titanate dioxide and zinc oxide were studied. The rhodamine B dye solution was used in this procedure.Firstly, the semiconductors/MWCNT composite were fabricated by the typical method.X-ray diffraction(XRD)and transmission electron microscope(TEM)were employed to verify the crystal and structure of the as-prepared composites. The nanoparticles could intactly load on the surface of the MWCNTs pre-treated by concentrated acid.At the same time, the good crystals were also preserved.Secondly, the complex cell with MWCNTs exhibited the better performance compared with the bare TiO2 or ZnO.Compared with the pure semiconductor cell,it showed an increase of the open-circuit voltage(Voc).Howev er,the short-circuit photocurrent remained almost the same for all cases. The enhanced Voc was explained by the increased surface area of the film, the much easier transformation of electron and the CNTs acted as electron acceptor to sink the electron.
