C.elegans is a widespread model organism because of its invariant cell lineage among embryogenesis in normal individuals.Recently,biologists developed 3D time-lapse confocal laser microscope to take 3D movie of C.elegans embryogenesis.In order to make the data more vivid and intuitive,we draw binary tree graph to represent the cell lineage of C.elegans.Each node denotes one cell and the branch length is calculated as life time of corresponding mother cell.As we mentionedbefore,normal individuals usually have similar tree structures.However,with respect to mutants,they may have a large difference in tree structure compared with normal ones.Through studying the cell lineage tree distance,we can distinguish mutants from normal ones and hence infer gene function.
