Scallop mariculture is one of the leading industries of sea-farming in China.Aiming at improvement of scallop production, multi-trait selection using BLUP (Best Liner Unbiased Prediction) in scallop breeding has just begun to launch.With accumulation of more and more genetic and phenotypic information, there is a need for rapid and efficient utilization of these information to assist in scallop breeding.Therefore we developed a web-based system for data recording with the functions of (co-)variance component estimation and using animal model BLUP to estimate breeding values for selection--Analysis and Evaluation System for Molluscan Genetical Breeding.This system contains two subsystems: one is used as a trait and genetic information database which can store, query and update the data; and the other is used for genetic evaluation, which calculates genetic parameters and breeding values in order to make breeding plans.
