　　Objective:To analyse the regularities of change in bone mineral density (BMD) and the prevalence rate of osteoporosis (OP) in Foshan district of Guangdong Provice.Methods The BMD of lumbar (L1~L4) and proximal femur was measured by Hologic2000 plus dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) for 839 healthy people,414 men,425 women,aged 40 to 84 years.All data of BMD were compared and statistically analyzed.Results The BMD decreesed gradually with increasing age,bone loss was more sharply decreased for females.
