N.I.Vaviiov noted Central Asia as one of the centers of diversity for many fruit species.Central Asia is the oldest center of the apricot culture.Aborigines used to grow apricots from seeds here for thousands of years,resulting in a rich gene pool of apricot.The Moscow cultural apricot population has problems concerning the insufficient hardiness and the presence of fungal diseases.
