Polyimide for use in memory devices has attracted significant scientific interest due to their several advantages, such as thermal stability, chemical stability, flexibility and mechanical strength.In our work, a novel soluble polyimide PI-6F/NA, 4,4-hexafluoroisopropylidene-diphthalic anhydride (6FDA) / 4, 4-diaminophenyl -β-naphthylamine (DAβNA) with structures in which the diphenylnaphthylamine units (DPNA) function as the electron-donating moieties and the hexafluoroisopropylidene phthalimide units (6FDA) serve as the electron-accepting species, was synthesized.The sandwich memory devices using the synthesized polyimide PI-6F/NA as the active layer were fabricated by spreading a polyimide solution onto a precleaned ITO substrate and then evaporated a thin Au layer onto the active layer.The current-voltage (Ⅰ-Ⅴ) characteristic of polyimide memory devices suggests that PI-6F/NA shows a flash type memory characteristic and could be repeatedly written, read and erased with good stability, which suggests that PI-6F/NA will be a good candidate for non-volatile type memory.
