Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP) based on biomimetic approaches, have proven their capabilities for creating highly specific receptor materials towards numerous analytes.During the MIP synthesis,a decisive step is the optimisation of the template/functional monomer interactions, eventually leading to a maximum of high-affinity binding sites in the final polymer matrix.Among the variety of analytes, imprinting of ionic species pose a serious challenge owing to their very minute size and lack of geometric features.
