A method of measuring the birefringence properties of glucose is proposed and implemented by using exploring Mueller parameters of the tested material based on system evaluation mechanism.The measurement employs fiber wave-plate for adjusting polarization state and tapered optical fiber for probing the polarization behaviors of the tested glucose,and also,the systematic polarization alignment required in most of conventional methods is not necessary in our system.Consequently,the features make the system quite practical and feasible In the paper,the birefringence of glucose under different concentrations is measured and discussed.
