As a consequence of the fact that a shortage of resources is to be expected in the future as well as an increase in price,the aspect of mining of recyclable fractions from landfills is becoming more and more the centre of consideration.The feasibility of landfill mining,especially the economic viability,is subject of many discussions.The paper will show the potential of resources in German landfills and evaluate the contribution of these secondary raw materials to energy and material supply.In the research project T(O)NSLM one major point amongst other is to develop an overall concept for landfill mining and to provide the necessary information for the implementation of mining projects.
