With the repaid development of Building Information Model (BIM), many scholars began to explore the BIM-adaption in the landscape field. However, both BIM and Landscape Information Model (LIM) cannot meet the requirement of heritage landscape practices. The current heritage landscape information systems are mainly based on GIS platforms that have significant weakness. It is therefore necessary to explore an integrated information framework, which I call a "Heritage Landscape Information Model (HLIM)" to facilitate the management of heritage landscapes. As an exploring research, this paper aims at identifying the required components for Heritage Landscape Information Model in China. This research examined 24 scenic areas to identify the main components of Chinese heritage landscapes and the information requirements in their management. The findings indicated that the basic framework for a HLIM is different from BIM or LIM.Firstly, rather than physical landscape components, intangible cultural heritage are the main component of heritage landscapes.Secondly, rather than focusing on heritage components, the information about tourism was the most required data in heritage landscape practices. In terms of technology, thirdly, video monitoring programs and facilities were the most prioritised tool used for heritage landscape management. The other technologies, including the "3S" technologies and automation office work were also applied. The components and technologies identified in this paper could potentially contribute to the conceptualization of HLIM in China. The conclusions provided a preliminary definition of HLIM and several implications for software vendors.
