The nitrogen removal performance in the constructed wetlands(CWs)was largely affected by the dissolved oxygen(DO).Because of the insufficient oxygen supplement from the natural oxygen enrichment and radial oxygen loss(ROL)of wetland plants, traditional aeration methods for CWs were needed which were characterized by low oxygen availability and high energy consumption. In this study,we used micro-aeration with hollow fiber membranes to increase the oxygen availability and further improve the nitrogen removal efficiency.
