This talk updates the latest progress in metamaterials antenna designs for industry and reports the research into spoof-surface-plasmon-based transmission lines.First, the strategy to apply the metamaterial concepts in antenna engineering is briefed.Then, two of the latest designs based on mushroom structures are updated.After that, a new type of spoof-surface-plasmon-based groundless transmission line is introduced.The equivalent circuit models, moment transit, and parametric study are presented and carried out.All designs are realized at microwave bands and verified experimentally.
