Chronology is a key issue in paleolimnological study. Radiocarbon dating is a well-developed and accurate technique for Quaternary study. However, in lacustrine sediments from arid area it is difficult to locate ideal materials for radiocarbon dating due to low vegetation production, and the reservoir effect (old carbon) may lead to large offset.
