霍根的《心灵及其故事》是文学认知批评领域的重要著作。作者在依莲娜.罗许的原型理论的基础上,发现了叙事作品的三种普遍形式:浪漫的悲喜剧描述的是情人的结合、分离和再结合;英雄的悲喜剧描写的是领袖人物的地位丧失、曲折抗争、权力恢复,有时还加上一个受难的收场;献祭的悲喜剧描述的是饥荒出现、向神献祭、神人和解。三种作品和受难的收场取决于食物、爱人、国家和超验领域所引起的激情,分别代表生理的、个人的、社会的和永恒的幸福。他的理论还可以用于分析悲剧、抒情诗和宗教著作等:悲剧只是被截短的悲喜剧,抒情诗是微型的叙事,赞美诗属于英雄文学,献身的诗歌属于浪漫的作品。
Hogan’s “Heart and Its Story” is an important work in the field of literary cognitive criticism. On the basis of the prototype theory of Elena Rohos, the author discovers three popular forms of narrative works: Romantic tragedy and comedy depict the combination, separation and recombination of lovers; heroic tragedy and comedy depict the status of leaders Loss, twists and turns, the restoration of power, and sometimes the end of a cruel sacrifice; sacrificial tragedy and comedy depict famine, sacrifice to God, reconciliation. The ending of the three works and the suffering depends on the passion emanating from food, lovers, nations and transcendental fields, representing physical, personal, social and eternal bliss, respectively. His theory can also be used to analyze tragedies, lyric poems and religious writings. Tragedies are only truncated tragicomedy, lyric poems are miniature narratives, hymn belongs to heroic literature, and devoted poems are romantic works.
