The potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is one of the three most consumed crops worldwide.The most devastating disease of potato is late blight, which is caused by the oomycete Phytophthora infestans.The most sustainable strategy to manage late blight is to breed broad-spectrum disease resistance into potato.
